The Accessibility and Accommodations Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing a work plan to evaluate and confirm adequate access to covered services and network providers for all enrollees as described in RFR Section 5.6. This position is also responsible for monitoring the processes described in Section 5.6.C and will use data produced pursuant to Section 5.6.C.10 to evaluate and improve the processes, policies and procedures as needed.

The Accessibility and Accommodations Compliance Officer has accountability for monitoring changes to laws and regulations to confirm compliance with the MassHealth and CMS contract as well as state and federal laws, regulations, and mandates. The role establishes and implements standard policies, procedures, processes, and best practices to promote compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations. The individual is responsible for and has authority to take all reasonable and necessary measures to implement the accessibility and accommodations compliance program.

The Accessibility and Accommodations Compliance Officer reports to the Executive Director. The Accessibility and Accommodations Compliance Officer will collaborate with our legal counsel to conduct state-specific legal research and monitor changes to requirements to mitigate risks and achieve compliance. The Accessibility and Accommodations Compliance Officer will also work closely with health plan provider relations and UHN staff. 

If you are located in Waltham, MA, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. This position is located within a commutable distance of our Waltham, MA office. You will work in the office and telecommute as needed. Travel for this position will be up to 25% of the time within Massachusetts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and drive adherence to accessibility and accommodations compliance program as required by 3 -way contract with State of Massachusetts and CMS
  • Develop and facilitate trainings for health plan staff and providers related to ADA compliance
  • Drive and facilitate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, mandates, and the contract
  • Demonstrate knowledge of business and industry processes, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate with providers and provider relations to ensure network is compliant with ADA standards
  • Develop policies and procedures as needed
  • Document, communicate, and report ADA compliance status and issues
  • Coordinate and support implementation of ADA compliance training and educational programs with the appropriate business areas
  • Develop annual work plan to address providers that are not compliant with ADA standards. Coordinate development and implementation of appropriate corrective action where necessary
  • Work with operational leaders to verify understanding and communication of plan-level regulatory contract requirements
  • Validate standards and processes are in place to ensure our vendor engagements meet regulatory and business requirements for effective pre-contracting evaluation and service level requirements, ongoing monitoring, and contract termination activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in health care 
  • Experience working with federal and state laws and regulations related to accessibility and accommodations compliance for enrollees
  • Experience working with the provider community, and ability to assess provider accommodations for enrollees
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ADA Coordinator Training Certification 
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple business areas, including, but not limited to, provider relations, clinical, quality and compliance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with enrollees and providers and address needs
  • Ability to identify gaps, remediate those gaps and monitor going forward
