PenFed is hiring a Director Leads Mortgage Loan Officer in San Antonio, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and lead a team of Leads Sales Managers and Mortgage Loan Officers as trusted advisors to our membership and to help select the right mortgage or home equity loan product to meet their needs. This position will oversee the performance of the Leads Sales Managers and Loan Officers in support of the following areas: pre-approval to application, call to application, application to fund, application to intent percent and timeliness, application quality, along with both member and realtor satisfaction.

  • Lead, coach and a mentor Manager and Loan Officer ensuring they are a trusted advisor to our membership and ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide sound mortgage advice to our members. 
  • Develop and maintain the strategic vision and plans for the Leads Sales channel, partnering with other Directors reporting into the (TBD).  
  • Analyze emerging risks and opportunities that may affect officers and present strategies to the Mortgage leadership team.
  • Develop and execute both a communication, training and production plan across the channel and engage with key internal and external partners (IT, Compliance, Legal and vendor) to ensure production plans are met. 
  • Thorough understanding of mortgage products, process, pricing, and guidelines to serve as the expert for the Manager and loan officer. 
  • Ensure Managers have consistent follow-up routines and accountability to ensure both member and realtor contact strategy is adhered to – sales pipeline management and effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with fulfillment partners, to ensure all conditions and documentation is collected in a timely manner to ensure we are meeting the members desired closing dates.
  • Responsible for partnering with sales managers on reporting for key metrics to include daily contacts, preapproval conversion, application to intent, application to fund, quality and member experience. 
  • Ensure the Managers are engaged and leveraging our partnership with PenFed Realty.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.  Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of residential mortgage lending experience is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management or equivalent experience is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of agency, non-agency, FHA, VA, and home equity lending guidelines.
  • Understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.
  • Extensive knowledge of agency, non-agency, FHA, VA, and home equity lending guidelines.
  • Expert level understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.
  • Experience leading outbound sales teams regarding mortgage and equity sales in relation to application volume based on applicable lead sources – retention and or acquisition
  • Experience working with lead management platforms such as Salesforce and Velocify – pipeline routines conducive to meeting sales targets
  • Must be able to pass NMLS screening, which includes a satisfactory credit history. 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise employees.
 

Licenses and Certifications

Must have an active NMLS license.
 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds. *

 

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
