Compensation: $19.00 to $20.00 hourly

Our client is currently looking for an entry level Accountant will provide clerical and accounting assistance to the Senior Accountant for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other areas. Will also perform semi-monthly payroll with Paychex payroll system. Role will assist in other administrative areas within the department. Should reside in the San Antonio area for proximity to the office – temporarily remote due to Covid. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepares semi-monthly payroll in Paychex Payroll software. Creates and records payroll journal entries after each payroll is completed. Performs Accounts Payable functions including journal vouchers, employee reimbursements; research expenses and prepare for payment. Processes Accounts Receivable including sales invoicing Reconciles bank and credit card statements Prepares preliminary journal entries for review by Senior Accountant Assists Senior Accountant with monthly and yearly closings. Tracks office supply and equipment inventories, vacation accruals Performs any needed administrative tasks within the US accounting function. Assists in creation of accounting policies and backup forms, etc. Cross-trains and can step into some related accounting duties when others are away. Understands and can perform the day-to-day Accounting SOPs and processes when needed. Performs back-end of onboarding with tracking of Paychex onboarding completion into payroll. Provides general administrative support to the office – mail, supplies, etc. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes in accounting and payroll. Performs other duties as assigned.  Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field, with 3 years AP and 1 year payroll experience, preferably in Paychex. Education interchangeable with 5+ years AP, 3+ years payroll experience. Demonstrated proficiency with MicroSoft Office, advanced skills with Excel. Desired: work experience with Oracle, Paychex. Ability to maintain productive interpersonal relationships. Ability to address challenges in a consultative manner and turn them into actionable items. Can provide guidance to internal stakeholders based on best practices and research. Maintains a sense of flexibility and adaptability in an ambiguous and changing environment. Ability to communicate payroll practices and policies to the employees. Must be able to ensure that their messages are clear, concise and readily understood. Must be dependable, honest, reliable, easily approachable to all levels of employees
