As a Monitoring and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical operation of job scheduling and monitoring applications, increasing the scope and sophistication of infrastructure automation and monitoring, and increasing the capabilities of Valero’s I/S Technical Operations Center through knowledge transfer, procedures, and automation.

You can help achieve this goal if you can :

  • Operate and maintain Valero’s job scheduling application (BMC Control-M Workload Automation).
  • Operate and maintain Valero’s enterprise monitoring applications (Micro Focus Operations Bridge, and Microsoft SCOM).
  • Contribute to Valero’s infrastructure automation initiatives by writing code or using commercial automation platforms.
  • Work with operations teams to increase their capabilities through knowledge transfer, training, documentation, and automation.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have (required) :

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience operating and maintaining a commercial automation or monitoring platform in a large enterprise.

The most competitive candidates will have (preferred) :

  • Experience operating BMC Control-M Workload Automation.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation coding using PowerShell or python.
  • I/S infrastructure operations experience in a large enterprise.
