The Senior Legal Services Specialist is a member of the subsidiary corporate governance legal team at UnitedHealth Group responsible for all aspects of Insurance Holding Company Act requirements. This position requires communication with state regulators, executives, board members for affiliated companies and attorneys. Due to the nature of the interactions, the ideal candidate must have the ability to build and foster positive relationships.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and submitting Insurance Holding Company Act filings
  • Working with state regulators to complete filings and obtain required approvals
  • Coordinate with finance and other business partners on responses to regulator inquiries
  • Coordinate and maintain filing documentation, approvals, executed contracts and filing trackers
  • Continuous process improvement
  • Providing support for Department of Insurance and financial examinations
  • Managing special projects
  • Performing legal research

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 3+ years of experience working with regulatory filings and/or contract review and negotiation, as a corporate paralegal, or related
  • Demonstrated strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel & PowerPoint
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paralegal experience or training 
  • Healthcare industry experience 
  • Experience coordinating projects with strong organizational skills
  • Experience dealing with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in legal and internet research

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
