Your Opportunity

The Texas Transportation Leader Area Manager is a seller/doer, responsible for leading the pursuit and delivery of excellent work to our clients throughout the State of Texas. Accountable for the top and bottom-line results, the Texas Transportation Leader Area Manager leads and focuses on the growth of the Texas Transportation Business, while providing innovative design solutions with exceptional quality and execution that fulfills client expectations.

You will play a pivotal role in expanding our existing client and project base and assisting to position the firm to acquire new business. You will work together with the Transportation Regional Business Leader (RBL), the Transportation Business Center (BC) Leaders as well as the leaders from other Stantec Texas business lines (Buildings, Water, Environmental Services and Energy & Resources) to provide operational, technical and people leadership while continuing our growth & success in Texas.

Your Key Responsibilities

Client Focus:

  • Responsible for fulfilling client expectations through strong account management and personally leading accounts for major clients

  • Achieve client- and proposal-specific marketing and business development (M&BD) sales goals

  • Lead and participate in key pursuits and campaigns

  • Work with the Transportation BC Leadership and leaders from other Business Lines to drive the client relationship strategy and drive strong results in the client satisfaction survey

Business Development and Collaboration:

  • Lead the Texas Transportation business development efforts though focused key pursuits, M&BD efficiency and strong sales strategy focused on winning work

  • Work with BC Leadership to identify priorities and strategic opportunities based on market research and client relationships

  • Responsible for expanding client base and for developing win strategies, pursuit plan and proposal efforts, including cross-selling with other Business Lines

  • Track pursuit success rate and return on investment (ROI) rate on client-by-client basis and for key pursuits

  • Participate as a key contributor in the Go/No Go Review process and track compliance of the Go/No Go Process

  • Utilize, maintain, and monitor the Stantec Opportunity Pipeline for all M&BD efforts

  • Increase visibility of Stantec by sharing our knowledge and innovation story through key client and industry engagements to enhance our reputation and drive revenue

Project Focus:

  • Lead delivery of significant Texas Transportation project pursuits

  • Actively participate, including contribution to written content, in major projects in key roles such as Independent Technical Reviewers, as required

  • Conduct risk management related to projects and pursuits including review of contracts, fees, and proposals on large pursuits and in coordination with BC leaders and risk management team

Practice:

  • Collaborate with local and Business Center leadership to establish, nurture and support cross-discipline project communication, and best practices

  • Inspire, motivate, and hold team members accountable for project delivery, QAQC, discipline excellence and technical quality, documents quality and best practices in the execution of work

  • Collaborate with the Business Center and local leaders to gather feedback and ensure that the integrated design process is delivering high quality results, making course corrections when necessary

  • Collaborate with local area leadership, including Project Managers, to ensure the office meets its operation goals and adheres to the PM framework

  • Commitment and leadership around a zero safety incident culture

Provide broad leadership influence:

  • Act as a highly regarded leader in Texas, thought partner and a source of counsel and advice for the Texas Transportation Business

  • Be personally involved in key client relationships, strategic project pursuits and project delivery

  • Proactively work to further develop Stantecs high- performance culture with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and productivity

  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within Stantec

  • Uphold a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, encourages individual integrity, diversity, and focuses our core values

  • Provide collaboration with Business Operating Unit Leader (BOUL), Business Leader (BL), Regional Business Leader (RBL), and Regional Leaders (RLs) for all facets of the business

People Leadership:

  • Collaborate with BC Leader for proper staffing of all projects including hiring, staff transitions, and labor sharing

  • Support BC with developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent

  • Foster employee connectedness by interfacing frequently with employees

  • Participate in regular office and BC wide meetings to communicate the vision, business strategy and progress

  • Support the overall talent management including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the BC

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A track record of establishing and maintaining client relationships in Texas

  • Strong ability to develop business and promote business relationships

  • Strong ability to motivate staff and promote teamwork within and across offices

  • Excellent organization, coordination, collaboration, management, and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated technical leadership in various disciplines of Transportation (Engineering, Planning, Construction Management)

  • Results oriented individual who excels in multi-disciplinary environment

  • Strong project planning and delivery experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software

  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred

  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 8-10 years related work, leadership, financial management, business development and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Professional registration in related field.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 20 pounds: Occasional 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required
