SUMMARY

The Vice President, Business Development supports Chickasaw Nation Industries (CNI) by providing strategic growth leadership and direction to grow CNI’s overall revenue and associated profits. This position will accomplish this through the use of their own subject matter expertise (SME) and come to CNI with an existing knowledge of the customer, their requirements and points of contact within each of their customer targets. The Vice President Business Development collaborates with the VP of Operations, LLC Managers, Division BD, Capture personnel, assigned shared service personnel and CNI Holding Company executives to develop joint business opportunities and capture plans for each. This position coordinates business development initiatives across multiple LLCs and lines of business within the Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge / quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative / motivation, cooperation / relationships, problem analysis / discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral / written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability / dependability, flexibility and ownership / accountability of actions taken.

Supports business development activities according to strategic account plans.

Supports the Executive Vice President and CNI Leadership on daily functions, including: strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, profitability, supporting financial goals of the Division, team building, initiative / motivation, collaboration, relationships, problem analysis / resolution, risk management / mitigation, and goal setting / attainment.

Works with the CNI leadership team to contribute to the development of five-year and ten-year strategic plans for the division. This plan will establish the baseline for evaluating at a minimal 8% YOY profitable revenue growth.

Responsible for business development, capture planning and supporting proposal initiatives related to corporate and division goals.

Directs and oversees the company’s business development activities, including existing business relationships and the identification of new client opportunities.

Provides leadership and direction to CNI team employees, partners, subcontractors and vendors to facilitate collaboration and synergy in goals, objectives and deliverables of client engagements.

Participates in the development of new opportunity proposals as well as re-compete proposals.

Initiates and owns their pipeline and that of any staff they are responsible for. Responsible for consistent opportunity entry and reporting using the CNI sales tools provided.  

Provides leadership and strategy for the development of proposal efforts. Assists in establishing and implementing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.

Maintains a safe and fair work environment for employees and business affiliates.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or greater preferred. A minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in Government Programs, proposal development and contract management, or equivalent combination of education / experience with Government contracts. Knowledge of federal contracting rules, regulations and laws. Knowledge of Federal employment laws and Service Contract Act (SCA) requirements.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Functional understanding of the federal capture process with ability to draw out business and technical requirements.

Operational knowledge and understanding of federal government business cycles, acquisition lifecycles, and RFQ / RFP bid processes.

Ability to develop and execute strategic capture plans that marry the technical and acquisition requirements.

Advanced knowledge and understanding in one or more of the core competencies of of Health, Technology, Business Services, Consulting and/or Logistics in the civilian and defense markets with ability to anticipate customer needs / solutions.

Knowledgeable of various aspects of government programs with ability to present viable solutions related to current or potential customer needs.

Applicable understanding of FAR and Government budget processes.

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills with the ability to interface effectively with senior management and public officials.

Exceptional prospecting and follow-up skills.

Ability to organize work, set priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously and maximize personal performance through time management.

Exceptional management and negotiation skills with ability to find mutually acceptable solutions.

Solid problem-solving skills with ability to make sound, well-informed and objective decisions and to perceive the impact / implications of decisions.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with effective technical presentation skills.

Ability to prepare and analyze reports / data and to convert large amounts of technical information into concise descriptions tailored to client business / operational needs.

Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

When necessary or required, ability to travel and to work flexible or extensive hours.

Ability to work remotely and independently.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
