The Role:

We’re looking for a new Director, Manufacturing to support here! This person will manage all aspects of value stream from the receipt of raw materials through fabrication and final delivery of quality eyewear to Visionworks customers. Ensure a safe work environment for team members, visitors and contractors. Build a culture of diversity and inclusion measured through Associate Satisfaction Survey’s (ASAT) and Turnover results starting at the interview process.

Provide a level of communication with clarity that ensures Visionworks’ Purpose and Mission statement is understandable and executed daily across all areas of oversight (Fulfillment, Manufacturing, Quality, Order Management). Collaborate with Learning & Development team to implement training for continuous Leadership Development for Managers, Supervisor and Section Leads. Manage resources in such a manner to achieve positive results in Key Process indicators (KPI’s) established that support organizational goals (Quality, Delivery, Efficiency and Cost).

Collaborate with EHS Leadership to establish bi-weekly safety messages communicating in team huddles and through Dayforce building awareness and accountability for deviating from safe work practices.
Recognize and reward plant, departments, teams for positive results in continuous improvement in safety audits and reducing workplace incidents through education.
Continually leverage ASAT data focusing on opportunities as defined by associates, prioritize and develop action plans to resolve opportunities and positively promote ‘Great Place to Work’.
Deliver on commitments starting at new hire interview process seeking to understand cultural fit as benchmarked against profile of highly effective tenured Visionworks associates.
Through bi-annual Talent Review processes, assess your leadership team’s skills relative to Visionworks Leadership Capabilities.; Ensure ongoing collaboration with L&D to ensure Leadership Development training and support is scheduled and implemented. Establish routine post-training for assessment of learned skills and successful application.
Define the strategy for delivering a technical skills training program that journey starts with new hires.
As a business owner, oversee technical training processes to ensure all business critical areas have clearly defined and sustainable plans for maximum flexibility within the teams while providing clear expectations on certifications.
Collaborate with Planning and Talent Acquisition Teams building a roadmap for onboarding new team members as customer demand increases.
Effectively utilize various communication channels to keep Visionworks Purpose and Mission in the forefront of all plant activities.
Conduct regular meetings with leadership teams sharing business updates keeping alignment across all business channels.
Own the tone and final content of messaging associates are presented in huddles, Town Halls, Round Table meetings.
Participate in strategy meetings providing insight as it relates to the plant operations.
Grow and support a cross-functional network for leaders across the organization that keep you and your leadership team fully informed on business changes prior to execution.
Ownership and successful achievement of specific KPI’s that impact Cost (% of Revenue, Productivity, Remakes)
Influence KPI’s that impact the customer experience (Lab Remakes, Delivery)
Partner with HR on employee retention activities (Drive the right leadership behaviors, Leverage engagement activities)


Bachelor degree in Business, Management, and or combination of education and 10 years of relative work experience in a Senior Leaders role. Master Degree preferred.
Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma from accredited educational institute required. Black Belt preferred.
American Board of Optometry (ABO) certification required within 12 months of employment.
Ten (10+) years of related work experience.
Knowledge of supply chain best-demonstrated practices, optical laboratory operations, equipment, workflow and procedures, and quality systems.
Experience leading multi-shift teams in a fast pace environment.
