Job Description Summary:

The Executive Steward oversees the day-to-day operation of the Resort's Stewarding department. S/he will be responsible for the overall maintenance and sanitation in all food preparation areas, to include kitchen utensils, china, silver and glass. The Executive Steward will also provide support to staff and Food & Beverage outlets as needed. S/he will strive to provide exceptional service to internal and external guests at all times.

Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee Stewarding department

  • Develop and implement strategies for improvement in department that align with the company's vision

  • Work to create an engaging and collaborative environment

  • Provide employees with the tools and equipment needed to deliver exceptional service

  • Effectively schedule employees based on upcoming forecast

  • Maintain par levels of stock; complete requisition for additional supplies as appropriate

  • Monitor supply of clean dishware, glassware and pans; take corrective action to maintain supply level

  • Train employees on proper cleaning methods and operation of equipment

  • Monitors trash levels in all cans and removes when needed

  • Ensures clean working environment through daily sweeping and mopping

  • Keep all the Kitchens in safe and clean conditions

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations

  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance

  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other resort associates to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate

  • Ensures dishes are sanitized and available as needed

  • Keeps sanitation solution up to company codes at all times

  • Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand

  • Assists in inventory of china, glassware and silver

  • Maintains proper placement and organization of pots, pans and utensils

  • Maintains proper storage of dish dollies, glass racks and flatware

  • Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition

  • Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, etc.

  • Sorts and removes trash, placing it in designated pickup areas

  • Works diligently to avoid breakage and loss

  • Ensures that all dishes and utensils are properly stocked and stored

  • Provides general resort information for guests

  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events

  • Schedules mandatory monthly department meetings and appropriate resort and division meetings

  • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

  • High school education or equivalent required

  • 3+ years of Stewarding leadership experience required

  • Prior food and beverage experience preferred

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit

  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written

  • Must possesses excellent communication skills

  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor

  • Must be able to work under pressure

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Must have excellent listening skills

  • Must always ensure a teamwork environment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates

  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner

  • Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests

Working Conditions:

  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to work at outdoor locations on occasion, walking on uneven surfaces

  • Must be able to work in either hot or cold conditions

  • Must be able to stand on feet and walk throughout the day

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs. & occasionally lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements constantly; squeezing and overhead reaching occasionally

  • Must be able to twist and bend frequently, and squat occasionally
