The candidate who fills this position will lead the Project Management Office (PMO) and Information Services (IS) SOX control compliance. You and your team will be responsible for the coordination, monitoring of controls, and presentations of IS projects to the Decision Review Board (DRB), as well as support for the PPM application (SAP Project and Portfolio Management). The PMO operation is critical to ensure the adherence to Valero’s IS Project Management Methodology and SOX compliance policies for all projects planned and executed within the IS division.

  • Facilitate Valero’s portfolio management process and decision gate methodology.
  • Assist project managers with preparation and compliance for presentations where key information is presented to the IS leadership team.
  • Provide oversight for IS SOX control execution, assessments, and remediations. This includes meeting with internal compliance and audit departments as well as with external audit companies.
  • Lead teams as the front-line mentor, coach, and counselor.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Organize and deliver training on tools and processes to project managers within the Information Services division.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have (required) :

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10 years of IS knowledge, preferably within Refinery industry or related business.
  • Proven experience leading projects with multiple resources from functional, technical, and business areas.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including waterfall, agile, lean, etc.
  • Sound judgement and experience with change management and project communication for each phase of the software development life cycle.
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Skype).

The most competitive candidates will have (preferred) :

  • 3 years of direct IS project management experience.
  • Working knowledge in SAP’s PPM and PS sub-systems.
  • Experience with report creation using industry standard tools such as Bobj and PowerBI.
