Job Description Summary:

The Recreation Attendant is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Recreation department. S/he will ensure positive and friendly guest relations at all times and will observe all activity within assigned areas offering assistance and instruction to guests/visitors.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with activities, camps, pool services, retail or other recreation related departments

  • Promote pool safety and report hazards immediately

  • Timely opening and closing of Recreation area to include retail shop, fitness center and kid's camp

  • Operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies

  • Maintain cleanliness of Fitness Center at all times

  • Maintain consistent restocking, delivery and distribution of all retail products

  • Enforce pool policies and regulations

  • Ensure pool slide regulations are being enforced

  • Ensure children do not play on nor jump from rocks/waterfall

  • Answers phone calls and answer all guest inquiries

  • Process payments for rental equipment, recreation activities, facility rentals, or retail sales

  • Maintain overall presentation of the Recreation areas

  • Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, including under the towel bar

  • Assist recreation, food and beverage or other departments as needed

  • Be alert and aware of weather or other circumstances that may affect patrons or equipment

  • Be knowledgeable and assist with special events as needed

  • Provides general resort information for guests

  • Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information

  • Up sells other resort services and amenities to guests

  • Addresses any guest issue promptly and with concern

  • Offers guests assistance resort directions, activity suggestions, etc.

  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues and reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.

  • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.

  • Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all La Cantera Resort and Recreation Department dress code standards.

  • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times.

Experience and Education:

  • High school education or equivalent

  • At least one year of customer service experience

  • Must be able to communicate with team both verbal and non-verbal

  • Provide legible communication and directions

  • Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers)

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age  

  • Must be able to work well under pressure 

  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written  

  • Must be highly detailed orientated  

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment  

  • Must have excellent listening skills  

  • Must possesses excellent communication skills  

  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor  

  • Must always ensure a teamwork environment  

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays  

  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates  

  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner  

  • Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests 

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing. 

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height  

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs;  

  • Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently;  

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
